Subject: My Infosys Experience

Hi friends
i am doing my final year eee in
chennai.infy visited our campus on the 11th of august
and recruited 43 of our students.i would like to share
my experience with u all.
the puzzles given in the first round were
not so difficult(Shakuntala Devi and Ravi Narula type)
and it was a breeze going thro that section.the
english section was also easy.out of some 90 students
who wrote the test in our college 53 got
shortlisted.but a couple of my friends who wrote the
same answers as myself(we compared answers later) were
not selected for the interview.the thing is that they
lost out in the english section.so it is not a very
good idea to take the english section very lightly.
it is always a good idea to show the
complete solution in the rough sheet in a neat
manner.i think they also look at the rough sheet
before shortlisting.
the questions asked in he interview are
as follows.
1)tell me about urself
this is a regular question.so be prepared
for it in advance.
2)do u like to work as a group or as an individual
it is better to answer both.i was asked to
give an example for both circumstances.
3)a stapler was placed before me and i was asked what
i would do with it
the thing is that it could have been any
object.the only way to tackle this type of question is
to use or presence of mind
4)Puzzle
two buckets containing water at 20 deg C
and at 20 deg F.a coin is dropped simultaneously into
the buckets.which will reach the bottom first?
the best way is to use the logical
approach.some people may use the unit conversion
formula.but it is better to answer this question
without the aid of paper and pen.only if the puzzle
requires a numerical answer, use the pen.
5)do u have any questions
i asked questions like 'how do u feel
working with infy?' and 'what are the responsibilities
u expect from a fresher?'.
some 6 students were rejected during the
interview process.the main reason is lack of good
communication and their approach.it is not right to
say that if u solve the interview puzzle u will get
selected.equal weightage is also given to
communication.also if u have heard of the puzzle
somewhere else do not rush at the answer.think for a
moment before answering.
all the best
